Decode the Itch · Lesson 05 of 10

Where does your scalp itch?

Location cannot diagnose the cause. A location that repeats can reveal a pattern worth investigating.

SkeenQueens scalp map showing common locations of itching
Do not just scratch it. Map it.

Map the sensation

An itch along the hairline may sit near tension, styling products or adhesives. Itching between parts may line up with exposed scalp or product contact. The nape may encounter sweat, hair, clothing or friction. An all-over sensation tells a different story from one small recurring spot.

Areas to record

  • Edges or hairline
  • Crown
  • Between braids or parts
  • Back or nape
  • One consistent location
  • Widespread or all over
Your next stepTouch the exact spot, then write it down. Notice whether the itch returns to the same location over the next several days.
