Meet the six itch families.
These families help organize observations. They are not diagnoses.
Six ways to organize the clues
- Flake: visible flakes or scaling stand out.
- Tension: pulling, tightness or tenderness follows a style.
- Product: the itch began after something new touched the scalp.
- Buildup: residue, sweat or time between cleansing stands out.
- Dryness: dry-feeling skin or tightness is the strongest clue.
- Reactivity: burning, stinging, swelling, bumps or sudden sensitivity appear.
Some observations may overlap. “Not clear yet” is also a valid result—it tells you to keep watching rather than forcing an answer.
